A Meditation That Can Help Prevent Panic Attacks Or Reduce Them

Let me teach you a wonderful meditation that can help prevent or reduce the intensity of panic attacks and even allow agoraphobics to be calmer. It is also very simple to apply.

I call it six/six.

The beauty is that it can be performed in any of these three (3) positions: sitting, lying down and even standing.

It simply entails you breathing in slowly from whatever position you choose, and counting up to six as you fill up your stomach with air.

When you hit the count of six, hold your breath for a few seconds and then breath out slowly through your nostrils, also counting six. At the count of six, you must have finished breathing out.

Then repeat the process as many times as possible.

Why is it so effective in calming nerves, stress, panic attacks and the lot? It is simply because the breathing sends sufficient oxygen to the brain. This enables you to think much, much better and calms down nerves.

And best of all, it is not a spiritual inspired kind of meditation. Some meditation, especially many from the East have religious origins which discourages many from trying them out.

I for one discourage any meditation that has a spiritual origin lest one gets into contact with supernatural spirits or what we call demons. It may seem paranoid but always remember that " there is a way that looks upright before a man but the ways of death are at the end of it afterward." ( Proverbs 16:25)

Are you feeling tense, miserable? Are you about to suffer another panic attack? Then try it out now and repeat as many times as possible. And by the way, it is also aids sleeping!

Hot Chocolate Can Help Fight Panic Attacks and Anxiety

Yes, drinking hot chocolate can help fight the above maladies!

Many are not aware of this great benefit of chocolate, basically seeing it as a drink for children.

Why it is helpful is that it releases chemicals to the brain. Chocolate is actually a stimulant, not a relaxant. We just associate the sweet sensation with relaxing.

Chocolate has caffeine-like compounds, hence the stimulant effect. But it also has compounds that mimic the "being in love" feeling. So, if you find love relaxing, it might work that way for you.

Many say whether the chocolate be hot or cold, it still has the same effect.

I personally do not agree with that statement! Hot is best and you will see why if you do decide to try taking it both ways.

My only grouse about taking chocolate is the sugar content and the health implications i.e. pile, weight gain and what have you.

It is best therefore you take it but in conjunction with other supplements. You can decide the day or days of the week in which you take hot chocolate to calm down your nerves.

What if you develop pile because of too much intake of chocolate which is big risk? It is advisable at such a point to discontinue chocolate. Find an alternative treatment that can achieve the same or even better results with no side effects.

The choice to use chocolate should be sparingly in order not to suffer any of the above adverse effects.

Your health counts. Always remember that.

Deep Breathing Exercise That is Good in Treating Panic Attacks

Deep breathing exercise has been found to be very effective in controlling panic attacks and I will show you how to properly carry it out.

It helps calms down nerves and gives you a very good sense of well being.

To start a deep breathing session, simply sit down in a chair in a 90 degrees position with your back fully rested. Make sure it is as close as 90 degrees and ensure you are also comfortable.

Breath in, and while doing so, be pushing out your stomach gradually as well. Once you believe you have taken a full breath and your stomach is filled with air, hold your breath.

At this stage, it is as though your stomach is filled with air and bulging to its limit.

Once you hold your breath, commence counting from 1 to 20 slowly in your mind. Once you reach the count of 20, start breathing out slowly through your mouth as though whistling. You are not to make any noise. You are to blow out quietly. That is the beauty of the deep breathing exercise!

Once you have finished breathing out, count to 30 before you repeat the above mentioned breathing exercise again. Do as often as possible.

It is quite useful in calming nerves and fighting panic attacks. It can also clears the mind of some irrational thoughts.

Why is it helpful? It is helpful because it sends oxygen to the brain, making one think better. It also relaxes the muscles.

Why I like the deep breathing exercise unlike the meditations is that it can be carried out on a full stomach! This sounds incredulous but is absolutely true. This is truly beneficial!

I have searched for other deep breathing exercises but this is the most effective so far and is definitely worth a try. Many have benefited and so will you! Take my word for it.

So go ahead and start today and see effects within an hour or less!

This Affrirmation Can Help Agopraphobics and Others Fight Panic Attacks

Affirmations can help you fight panic attacks but this I believe this is one of the best.
This particular affirmation, though common, is little appreciated probably because of its ubiquity.
What affirmation is this? The affirmation is, "Everyday and in every way, I am getting better and better."
Another is, "Everyday and in every way, I am looking better and better."
Brian Tracy stated in one of his books that in a hospital where these affirmations were said to patients, their recovery rates were five times higher than other patients.
So, by all means say these affirmations as often as you can to yourself or better still get someone to say it to you.
If you need to pay someone to say it you at your preferred time of the day, by all means do so! May sound ridiculous but anything is better than living in a constant state of flux. Social phobia is very disruptive and that is putting it mildly.
You can say the above two examples to yourself daily and add some more modified versions.
A version can be " Everyday and in every way, I am getting bolder and bolder."
Alternatively, "Everyday and in every way, I am getting happier and happier."
By constants tweaking, you can develop an affirmation that will work wonders for you.
The essential ingredients are that you have to be persistent and persevering.
As you continue to repeat these affirmations or as others say it to you, your inner self will spring to life and you will look forward to a bright new day!
Wishing you well always.

How to Successfully Make a Fool of Yourself to Treat Your Agoraphobia

This is an agoraphobia treatment that is quite effective and helps to stop or reduce anxiety panic attacks. Sounds bizarre telling an agoraphobic to make a fool of himself to cure his ailment? Well, actually, it is not as bizarre as it sounds.

To an agoraphobic, making a fool of himself or herself is the greatest of all fears and avoids with passion any environment that may trigger such an embarrassment. These embarrassments or aberrational fear of them trigger panic attacks.

Well, to use the above tactic successfully, you have to create what psychologists call a controlled setting.

Go to a place where no one knows you such as the market and scream some gibberish. Gibberish such as "I am the king of Guyana". Alternatively, wear a ridiculous cap with dressing to match which will draw attention to you.

You make up your mind on how you want it done. You create a setting and act it out! Start thinking. I am very certain you will come up with some brilliant ideas.

Repeat as often as possible. It is best you that when you want to start, inform your taxi driver or go with a companion just for some comfort. Or you can just go alone. You need to be bold.

The reason why this works is that when one makes a fool of himself and finds out that the world does not come to an end or revolve around him or her, his fear of embarrassing situations begins to diminish and subsequently disappear. This will happen with you.

So will you start today- or tomorrow? Plan well and take action. You will be glad you did.

Affirmations Can Help in Fighting Panic Attacks!

Affirmation can assist in controlling panic attacks and agoraphobia if well applied. It may even eliminate it altogether if religiously adapted.

First and foremost, what are affirmations.

Affirmation is simply the assertion that something exist or that it is true.

An affirmation helps because basically we are what we speak.

For instance, a person giving to living the fast life will always mention women, booze, parties and the lot.

Likewise, a go-getter will always mention the latest business opportunity, college education, stepping up the corporate ladder etc.

In addition, a book I respect so much, the bible says, "Death and life are in the power of the tongue." (Proverbs 18:21)

Now how does one put affirmations into good use?

Brian Tracy gives an example of a man who was a chain smoker. In order to stop smoking, he went in front of a mirror and said, "I am a non-smoker" 200 times every single day."

At the end of 60 days, the man quit smoking.

For affirmations to work, they must be said in positive way.

For instance, the man said, "I am a non-smoker" rather than "I will stop my smoking habit." The latter is said in a negative way.

So how can you use it to fight anxiety, panic attacks and agoraphobia?

Go in front of a mirror and say," I am very confident in social gatherings" 200 times a day.

Alternatively, "I am very confident and secure whenever I am driving". Say this has often as possible everyday.

Anxiety and panic attacks are nightmarish conditions and I am sure that if you apply affirmations continuously, you will achieve positive results. Give yourself a goal of a minimum of 60 days for best results.

Here is wishing you success

Exercises That Are Good For Managing Panic Attacks, Anxiety and Agoraphobia

If you suffer from panic attacks, anxiety or even agoraphobia, then you need these three exercises. And I should add those suffering from depression as well.

And they are jogging, weightlifting and press-ups.

All three exercises send chemicals to your brain making you happier.

Press-ups in particular can even eliminate the palpitations that accompany panic attacks. The reason why is that the heart suddenly is able to contain the extra pounding that accompany anxiety panic attacks.

Weightlifting makes one feel gale and happy after a session. The reason for this is not only that it releases chemicals to the brain but also relaxes the muscles and nerves.

It is however unwise to start these exercises rigorously if you have not exercised in years. You may injure your body and may take time to heal.

Your body can either heal naturally or you might even have to see a doctor.

It is therefore only appropriate that you commence with some warm up exercise which is also a good mood booster.

Thankfully for the internet, we can purchase lots of books on warm up exercises from Amazon and other internet websites.

You can even go step further and purchase videos which are much easier to understand and implement.

I m sure there are a couple of videos on these video sharing sites that teach warm up, entirely for free.

So rather than mope all day and live in fear, start these exercises today. You will certainly be glad you did. They are truly beneficial.
